The Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center is the site of the 1862 Battle of Fredericksburg. This central Virginia battle was between General Robert E. Lee's Confederate Army of Northern Virginia and Major General Ambrose E. Burnside's Union Army of the Potomac. It was one of the Civil War's most one-sided battles, with the majority of the casualties from the Union army.
Visit the site to enjoy a 35-minute guided walking tour, led by a historian or drive along the driving tour route. Recorded tape tours are also available from the bookstore. Learn more about the battle by viewing the exhibits at the Visitor Center and by watching the 22-minute film.
