Virginia Vacations, Travel and Hotels

It was here in 1749 that 17-year-old George Washington received his surveyor's license and began work for the proprietor Lord Thomas Fairfax. As the Revolution became imminent, the Culpeper Minute Men were organized in 1775. Two years later, with volunteers from Fauquier and Orange counties, they marched to Williamsburg in answer to Gov. Patrick Henry's call to arms.
